Raw Silk Cocoons

These cocoons are produced by the Bombyx mori silkworm in China, and have been stifled so they will not hatch out. Each ounce of cocoons has approximately 35 cocoons.
RC1—Raw cocoons, to use for reeling, mawata making, or to degum and spin.
RC2—Stained, “dead” (not hard shell stage) cocoons that won’t reel, off-size or discolored cocoons.
DC1—Degummed cocoons, many with the chrysalis still inside the cocoons.
EK—A resource “kit” for teachers, with 1 ounce of raw cocoons, samples of reeled and spun yarns, and mawata squares. Includes directions for Reeling and Degumming.
